Below are images of two separate artworks I have in this show. To see them on site in Bushwick you have to download and install the Layar app onto your smartphone from www.layar.com. Then search for “Bushwick Augmented Reality Intervention.”
On November 14th, Nurture Art (910 Grand Street, www.nurtureart.org) is the project hub and can help with information on where the artworks are sited and instructions on how to view them with smartphones. The works themselves will be up indefinitely.
Two famous actors born in Bushwick, Eddie Murphy and Mae West, return to their hometown. (An homage to Magritte’s “Golconda.”)

Bushwick Park was renamed “Maria Hernandez Park” in 1989 to honor this community activist who was murdered because of her fight to free the area of drug use. I could not find an image of her on the Internet, and so have made this piece in her honor using 7 photos of women named “Maria Hernandez,” taken randomly from the Internet, to honor all the unknown and unsung Maria Hernandezes of the world.
